[So, this is one woman that Nathan is pretty sure would gladly do him some serious damage if she wanted. Especially, uh, given everything that happened when he and his host counterparts all sort of...revived from the dead mid-trial. Not pretty. So, he's playing this one cautiously.
By which I mean when she goes alone into a different room, she'll find him there waiting, halfway lounged against the wall. He still looks as much of a nuisance as ever, but he is, at least, making a somewhat obvious effort at not being gross...?]
[ oh man. if Zero knew Nathan's thought process, you have no idea how incredibly pleased she'd be. clearly she made the right choice when she tried to rekill Chuuya if it gets these kind of results.
she is, thankfully, not a mind reader, so Nathan's self preservation instincts will remain a mystery to her. ]
Yeah. Chuuya said you could see most of the ghosts around here - is that true?
[ nice, maybe this conversation will actually be worth it. ]
Alright, then what about the asshole - the one that spoke to us when we got here and said we hadn't "earned" the information he had. Do you see him around too?
I wish. Right now they seem more interested in being a bunch of generally-unhelpful, somewhat-shady twats, but...I'm hoping as the stakes inevitably ramp the fuck up, they'll, in turn, shape the fuck up!
I'm sure that's very reassuring for everyone who dies between now and then.
[ does she care? not really. but other people probably will, so... ]
Alright. Is there any way for us to talk to the ghosts without having to go through you? It's inconvenient to have to wait for your schedule to clear up every time I have a question.
I can tell you they're three birds and one gent, and most of them are fucking annoying as hell. Can't agree on much and love to give me shit for no reason, probably because they're bitter that their spirits have been doomed to walk this plane for all eternity or some shit.
To not be dead, maybe? Revenge? Can't imagine what else it could be, but they haven't given me any kind of straight answer yet...fucking weird, if you ask me. Every other ghost I've met has been more than happy to talk about their problems and what I can do about it like I'm some kind of fucking miracle worker.
[Knock, knock, Zero. Nathan isn't about keeping a lady waiting even if I, Danielle, am garbage about setting up threads. So he'll be waiting outside her door, hands in his pockets and smiling. The continued fear of her absolute power is the only reason he's not immediately mentioning that awesome picture she sent to summon him.]
Depends on what you mean by anything. I know more about them as the people they were. Spirits they still are, I guess. But they only know so much about getting the fuck out of here considering how badly they fucked that one up for themselves.
They haven't mentioned. But considering only the host spirits remained to gossip another day, I'd guess that has something to do with why he isn't around. None of them seem to want to even say his name, says it puts a bad taste in their mouths. As if they aren't, like, dead.
Not really. They seem more interested in what's going on in the present than reliving the past. I wouldn't call it particularly helpful, but it's something, I guess.
WEEK 2, WEDNESDAY;
By which I mean when she goes alone into a different room, she'll find him there waiting, halfway lounged against the wall. He still looks as much of a nuisance as ever, but he is, at least, making a somewhat obvious effort at not being gross...?]
You rang?

she is, thankfully, not a mind reader, so Nathan's self preservation instincts will remain a mystery to her. ]
Yeah. Chuuya said you could see most of the ghosts around here - is that true?
no subject
[Well, for some reason he can only hear them, but he figures that's a pretty inconsequential point. Maybe.]
no subject
Alright, then what about the asshole - the one that spoke to us when we got here and said we hadn't "earned" the information he had. Do you see him around too?
no subject
[And some, like, other people...]
no subject
[ she's not into the whole wearing people thing. :/ ]
no subject
[Guessing it's personal or something, but...]
Not very helpful on our end.
no subject
[ yes, those are clearly the only two options. ]
Have any of the other ghosts been helpful, or is it more of the same?
no subject
[It's really the best he can hope for.]
no subject
[ does she care? not really. but other people probably will, so... ]
Alright. Is there any way for us to talk to the ghosts without having to go through you? It's inconvenient to have to wait for your schedule to clear up every time I have a question.
no subject
[He laughs.]
Someone seriously going around saying that I have some kind of sign-up sheet? I thought the lot of you just didn't like me.
[But that's beside the point, so he answers the question.]
Unfortunately, this is my God-given power, so, it's kind of just a me thing.
no subject
Well, I don't, but I don't like anyone. Don't feel bad.
[ hmmmmm ]
I see. Then is there anything you can tell me about them? Since you've had so much free time to chat them up.
no subject
[He'll take what he can get.]
I can tell you they're three birds and one gent, and most of them are fucking annoying as hell. Can't agree on much and love to give me shit for no reason, probably because they're bitter that their spirits have been doomed to walk this plane for all eternity or some shit.
no subject
[ worse than faeries, because you can at least squish faeries. ]
Maybe you should threaten them with holy water, see if that makes them sit down and cough something up.
no subject
[He doubts it'll work, but it makes him grin nonetheless.]
Or maybe we can threaten to lock them in lamps or some shit.
no subject
[ why would that work ]
Well, whatever it takes to get them to talk. [ ... ] Is there something they want?
[ she sounds Super Enthusiasticâ„¢ about that possibility ]
no subject
To not be dead, maybe? Revenge? Can't imagine what else it could be, but they haven't given me any kind of straight answer yet...fucking weird, if you ask me. Every other ghost I've met has been more than happy to talk about their problems and what I can do about it like I'm some kind of fucking miracle worker.
no subject
They need to learn to accept their lot in life. Though... given you and the others, maybe they think there's a reason they don't have to.
[ after all, Nathan came back. why couldn't they? lack of bodies aside. ]
WEEK 4, SUNDAY;
What can I do for you?
no subject
I figured I'd check in to see if the stupid ghosts had decided to spill anything yet. So?
no subject
no subject
[ that's all she can figure, given how things were falling apart ]
no subject
no subject
[ it's not a question - she's that certain. it'd be hilarious if she were wrong ]
no subject
Is this coming from somewhere personal?
no subject
[ though judging by the way her gaze slides away immediately, yes ]
I know his spirit isn't around, but have they coughed up what happened to it? Or, hell, what his name was?
no subject
no subject
[ but then she considers the fact that only the hosts are still around, and- ]
Does that mean you and the others will be stuck here if we screw this up?
[ another unpleasant thought. ]
no subject
[He shoves his hands deep into his pockets.]
I'm just going to try to keep holding out hope that that doesn't happen.
no subject
[ disappointing, but not totally unsurprising. ]
Well, lots of people are working very hard at preventing that. Or so I've heard. I'm sure you won't have to worry about it much longer.
[ for better or for worse. ]
no subject
[Groaning...]
I'm sure none of us will, one way or another.
no subject
[ just call the ghosts out, nbd. well, for Zero. ]
How are you handling them? You said last time they wouldn't stop bothering you - have they learned to behave yet?
no subject
It's not as bad as it was. Either they've settled or I've just gotten used to it. I think we've just run out of shit to argue about.
no subject
[ she's just sour they won't give any useful information ]
... What do you think about the way everything's been going?
